Dorel Burcea (CIO, Morpheus Labs)

What is your background and field of interest?

I spent more than 17 years in the banking and financial services industry. Having extensive experience in architecture design and developing/implementing enterprise-grade IT solutions, I have mainly worked in IT/applications fields. Starting with 2009 I managed several international footprint projects in Europe, MENA and APAC, which was also the time when I initiated my research. This is where I’ve got captured by the exciting world of fintech — and later blockchain.

How and why did you end up at Morpheus Labs?

In 2017 I was already collaborating with several start-up projects in fintech and IoT. I met Pei-Han in Singapore after we got in contact via an entrepreneurship & startup network. Morpheus Labs has immediately captured my attention and I felt very strongly that this is a good opportunity for me to contribute to the vision of Morpheus Labs.

What exactly are you doing at Morpheus Labs?

I am CIO of Morpheus Labs and I set the overall strategy for the platform. As business enabler, I am defining the enterprise architecture, ensuring scalability, enforcing security and scheduling the delivery to the end user. My focus is to ensure a fast adoption of our Blockchain-Platform-as-a-Service (BPaaS) platform.

What is your biggest achievement at Morpheus Labs?

I am very proud of the successful completion of our ICO, setting up an international development team, releasing the first MVP and, most recently, being able to use our platform for blockchain projects in order to provide consultancy services.

What are you most excited about regarding the future of Morpheus Labs?

I think our platform has unparalleled potential to address many use cases in a large number of industries. Being cloud-based and microservice-architecture-oriented, we want to rapidly scale and expand geographically. I foresee how banks, energy and automotive players can rapidly transform their business by using our platform. For partners and distributors, leveraging on our token economy model, I see an opportunity that will further increase our ecosystem and make our token a valid and very valuable utility to access or sell our services.

What are your personal interests / hobbies / etc.?

I love travelling, spending time with my family, as well as visiting cities for their art and culture.
