what is the In-line Duct Fan?

.An in-line exhaust fan is best defined as a fan that is in-line (inside or connected to a duct) mounted for extraction purposes. In-line fans are installed within ductwork to bring air indoors and outdoors. Recessed fans can also be described as remotely mounted fans. Inline fans are not mounted directly on the drywall or ceiling, but are usually located in the attic or roof space, a little further from the bathroom. In-line fans are suitable for the following applications: Ventilation of wet spaces such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms.

Benefits of using an inline fan

Noise Reduction: Since the fan is located further away in the roof space, rather than directly above you, the noise level in the room you’re extracting from it will be lower. Also, if your roof space is well insulated, or if you’re considering buying a “silent” inline fan, it’s one of the quietest ventilation solutions available. High Power: Large size inline fans with very high power motors. Many times this type of power is simply not available from a standard ceiling-mounted or wall-mounted extractor. Duct Run Length: Inline fans are designed for use in ducts. This means they will retain a larger percentage of the advertised capacity compared to basic extraction fans. This is especially useful if the distance from the extraction point to the exit is long. For example, if you want to pump your bathroom to a roof vent, and a relatively long distance (6m or more). This allows the fan to be used for other applications such as heat transfer and subfloor ventilation. Multiple Air Intake Points: With an inline fan, multiple air inlets or air outlets can be created using a Y-joint or BTO. This is especially useful if you have a large bathroom and want 2 intake points, or again a heat transfer kit serving multiple rooms.

conclusion:

Do shrouded/ducted propellers outperform unshrouded propellers in terms of static thrust alone? It appears that the guide vanes at the bottom of the duct will allow more thrust to be extracted from the vortex created by the propeller by redirecting the airflow. Also, the ducts appear to “concentrate” the propulsion air (like rocket thrusters), resulting in better thrust.
