I think the Holyoke High School is handling the situation badly. They want to look like they are a good school that accepts diversity. The school is expressing that it really isn’t like that. They are trying to cover up their wrongs and you can see it within the ways they are handling it. They are discriminating her by saying that the assembly wasn’t the time for her expression. That was the perfect time. Discrimination in this country keeps getting worse. What the student wrote created a lot of controversy and hopefully students will begin to see how unfairly minorities are treated. Hopefully everyone will begin to see. Unfortunately students are discriminating more, so students may have to continue to fight for their right for equal respect. I think if latino students continue to talk about it and express their side of things then people will begin to have more compassion. Love and compassion are the answer. Hate and discrimination are not.
