UP Scholarships — A Ray of Hope
Uttar Pradesh is one of the most populous states of India and thus is home to a very big as well as considerable student population. In order to encourage students to become an integral part of the developing economy and play a vital role in its development, Government of Uttar Pradesh is providing numerous scholarships so that those students who are capable of achieving great potential can excel and bring glory not only to the state but to nation as well.
To facilitate development of students from their initial years till they complete higher education, Uttar Pradesh Government has various types of scholarship schemes to support students in achieveing their full potential. By the means of this article, we will throw some light on Scholarship offered by Uttar Pradesh Government at various levels.
• Pre Matric Scholarship: Let us start from the basics, when a child enters school i.e. Class 1, Uttar Pradesh Government’s Pre-Metric Scholarship is there to provide financial assistance to the students.
o Students from class 1 to 10 are eligible to be a get benefit from the scholarship scheme even if they are studying in any Government or Private School.
o The only binding criterion is the parental income. For General candidates the income needs to be lesser than Rs. 19,884 is they reside in rural areas & Rs. 25,546 for population residing in urban areas.
o Amount of Scholarship: The amount offered under the scholarship depends of the class in which the student is studying i.e. the annual scholarship amount for students of class 1–5 is Rs. 300, for Class 6–8 the amount is Rs. 480 while for the students of class 9–10 the annual scholarship amount is Rs. 720.
• Post Matric Scholarship: Entering class 11 after clearing class 10 is one of the biggest changes for a student as he/she needs to select the subject he will be studying in order to get him to the desired career. To help students in whatever decision they make, Post Matric Scholarship provides support to students in their studies.
o Post Matric Scholarship has 575 courses which are eligible to be considered under Post Matric Scholarship.
o The annual Family income of the candidates should be less than Rs. 2 lakh irrespective of which category they belong to.
o Amount of Scholarship: The amount of scholarship depends upon the status of the student (Hostler or Day scholar) and the educational course he/she is pursuing. On the basis these conditions, the monthly amount of scholarship varies from maximum Rs. 1200 to minimum Rs. 380.
• UPTU Scholarship: Uttar Pradesh Technical University is a state university administered by Government of Uttar Pradesh. Various Scholarships are offered through UPTU as well some of them are for Branch Toppers, University Rank Holders and for those students who performed exceptionally well in competitive examinations such as GATE/ GRE/ UPSC/ IAS/ IES/ GMAT/ Advance GRE.
