tl:dr;

  • amazing brunch
  • good for working

This was the second time of visiting Urban Cafe, but the first time for breakfast / brunch. We got there shortly after opening time on a Saturday, and they were already fairly busy. Due to their small kitchen, they said that the food would take a short while to arrive. We each ordered the same:

  1. Latte
  2. Bloody Mary
  3. Chilli and lime smashed avocado on Sourdough toast, with two poached eggs and halloumi (halloumi was a replacement for bacon from the menu)
  • The latte arrived immediately and was as good a coffee as is possible to get.
  • This was our second time having a bloody mary for breakfast (one quite nice one before in cosy club), but this one was amazing. It didn’t look all that exciting, but it was thick, rich and had a strong kick. Exactly how I assume it should be (but I’m far from any sort of expert… yet).
  • The avocado and eggs didn’t take too much longer to arrive, and was simply amazing. More than generous quantities, and just wonderful flavours. If I was to nit pick, I would say that a little less lime was needed. But we were left feeling more than happy with it.

The icing on all of it was how good the value was. Each of us paid a little over £10 each for all of that. Having previously paid over £10 for an avocado based breakfast in several places before, we were very impressed.

We were also using the opportunity to do some work, and it is pretty good for that. I have seen previous reviews say that it is a bit too noisy, but I find it to be quite a nice level. There aren’t many sockets around however, so you may want to watch out for that.

Overall, fantastic. We will be going back to try more of the brunch menu, more bloody marys and some more work. And to take some proper photos.
