The author seems to have forgotten to look up what ‘public goods’ are before writing this article. [1 2]
The USA spends a very similar amount per capita on public goods compared to the rest of the “rich” world.
This isn’t to argue that the “American Experiment” isn’t approaching “the end,” that a lot of introspection isn’t warranted, or that we spend the money on the correct public goods. This article is however hard to take seriously when the premise on which the core argument rests is completely wrong.
