Prologue

Globally, the music business sector is a $130,000,000,000 a year industry controlled largely by a select few individuals. Label executives in today’s music industry have an unfair grip on the exposure, control, publishing, and distribution of the artists they manage.

Many record labels practice strong-arm tactics to force artists and musicians into one-sided contracts that benefit the label at the expense of the content creator. Many artists are aware of these practices, despite this, negotiations ultimately result in the artists agreeing to unfavorable contracts due to the lack of a viable alternative.

Motify is set to be the alternative that artists, musicians, composers, and producers have been seeking for decades. With Motify, musicians can forego the record label constraints and have their art marketed directly to algorithmically compatible listeners searching for new music.

On the Motify music streaming platform listeners will be able to like, share, buy, and tip their favorite songs and artists as a show of support. With Motify the top tippers will be afforded the ability to communicate directly with their favorite artist. Providing a unique and incentivized mechanism for both artists and enthusiast alike.

Issues

Today, there’s an insurmountable number of wildly talented, undiscovered, artists the world over all searching for an opportunity to be exposed to the masses. Major players in the music industry are aware of this desire, but unfortunately use it to their advantage, fundamentally hindering creativity, individuality, and artistic evolution.

A common hindrance within the music industry as it stands, is that many great artist & musicians operate solely as hobbyists yet produce wonderful content that the masses love. Motify will enable hobbyist musicians the ability to earn a passive income via their passion for music.

One of the most unanimously stifling aspects of indie music can be attributed to artists not yet having amassed a following that can feasibly support them traveling and performing at live venues. With record sells consistently declining as technology advances, both performers and supporters agree that the most common method of supporting an artist is displayed via tickets to concert purchases.

In the days of old, musicians could offset the financial burden of ‘Road Cost’ (The cost to travel and perform) by averaging the incurred expenses of such endeavors with the performance of recorded music sells. In this declining market, the road cost must be footed solely by the artist leading many to disembark from the idea for financial reasons.

The digital age has brought with it a new avenue for artists to directly gain a following through social media. Many assume that such a following would be the catalyst that launches an artists’ career, unfortunately this is not the case. While having a large following is a notable benefit for any artist, for most, such followings do not result in significantly increased music sales nor concert attendance.

Issues

The idea of making a living as a musician without being tied down by a contract for periods often upwards of 10 years is certainly an enticing aspiration. However, it goes without saying that in some cases labels do play a key role in the marketing of their artist to untapped demographics.

Given the arguably applicable role of record labels, it is common place in the music industry for an artist to be signed to a record label and shortly after signing into an agreement the label will shift financial focus to a different artist on the label. These sorts of practices may result in an artist not receiving any promotion for an indefinite amount of time.

The resulting downside is that once under contract, an artist can not pursue independent avenues of promotion or revenue without the labels approval. This inevitably stunts and artists’ ability to grow and move forward with their career.

The grapple placed on musicians in today’s current music industry architecture is inarguably fractured fundamentally, Motify intends to restructure the music business in a way that places emphasis on the artists while still maintaining a balance with the services offered from major recording studios.

Solutions

Motify will offer artists using the platform the ability to post their music at no charge, making it accessible globally on an intuitively drafted music platform. Musicians will be able to post their songs, instrumentals, compositions, & more for sale on the platform. Users will then be able to purchase these songs using the Motify cryptocurrency MDFY.

A unique ability that the Motify platform offers is the ability for users to tip their favorite artists instantly using MDFY coins. These coins are instantly transferred to the artists’ account with no fees being incurred by the artist nor the user. This feature will allow artists to earn commission free residual passive incomes solely based on the following they garner from the app.

The Motify platform will afford artists the ability to conduct audio/video live streams of their performances. Viewers will be able to purchase songs performed during the live stream (if made available by the artist) and have the option to send MDFY as tips. Additionally, artists will have the option to offer paid private livestreams in a ‘concert manner’ where users must first purchase a ‘ticket’ for access.

The Motify platform intends to birth a musician focused social media platform that dynamically interacts with the Motify music streaming platform. This social media platform will streamline and append the disconnect between mass social media followings converting to digital downloads and ticket purchases. Motify will offer methodically designed fluid intuitive sales funnels for artists to increase revenues in a natural-to-consumer nonintrusive presentation.

In attempts to aid musicians who have entered into contractual agreements but have ultimately been ‘shelved’ by their record labels. Motify will work in tandem with labels who have artists they have chosen no to market due to financial or other reasons.

Solutions

Motify will enter into sub/side-contracts with record labels in an agreement for a percentage of the labels returns on the artists revenues generated through the Motify platforms. Motify will assume, and dilute the cost of marketing, by specifically promoting the artist to users on the platform who are algorithmically compatible to the artists’ music based on the music the user had listened to, and the artists they follow. This unique style of an agreement removes the labels marketing risk, while also allowing the artist to continue their music campaign with no additionally percentage of the artist revenues being removed.

Motify envisions its platform as a revolutionary foundation for a new music industry architecture designed for the modern age that explicitly benefits the artists as a rule. With a methodical & pragmatic approach, Motify intends to deliver this platform created for musicians, by musicians.

Technology

The Motify music streaming platform is built on a structurally sound and secure code that interacts with the user in a particularly human fashion. The platform is written with security breach redundancy fail safes to protect users and their information.

Motify’s source code is written in the lightweight server-side PHP 7.0 scripting language, which works in unison with mySQL as a dedicated backend that allows for prompt loading times. The front end of the Motify streaming platform is written in JavaScript which is a scripting language that allows for interactivity with the server-side PHP scripting language and database in a seamless manner.

Technology — PHP

PHP is a general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited to server-side web development, in which case PHP generally runs on a web server. Any PHP code in a requested file is executed by the PHP runtime, usually to create dynamic web page content or dynamic images used on websites or elsewhere.

The PHP language is used by 80% of the worlds top web pages, such as Facebook, Wikipedia, and Yahoo due to its efficiency, scalability, and secureness.

Technology — Javascript

JavaScript is a cross-platform, object-oriented scripting language used to make webpages interactive (e.x. having complex animations, clickable buttons, popup menus, etc.). There are also more advanced server side versions of javascript such as Node.Js which allow you to add more functionality to a website than simply downloading files (such as realtime collaboration between multiple computers). Inside a host environment (for example, a web browser), JavaScript can be connected to the objects of its environment to provide programmatic control over them.

· Client-side JavaScript extends the core language by supplying objects to control a browser and its Document Object Model (DOM). For example, client-side extensions allow an application to place elements on an HTML form and respond to user events such as mouse clicks, form input, and page navigation.

· Server-side JavaScript extends the core language by supplying objects relevant to running JavaScript on a server. For example, server-side extensions allow an application to communicate with a database, provide continuity of information from one invocation to another of the application, or perform file manipulations on a server.

The JavaScript language is used as a front end by many of the most popular web applications today. The Motify platform chose JavaScript as it’s front end to provide users with a familiar interface making the transition to Motify as natural as possible.

Motify Blockchain

The Motify blockchain is a composition of several integral components that comprise a decentralized network that facilitates safe, trustless, cryptographic financial transactions verified by each node on the network.

What is a blockchain?

A blockchain can be described as an append-only transaction ledger. What that means is that the ledger can be written onto with new information, but the previous information, stored in blocks, cannot be edited, adjusted or changed. This is accomplished by using cryptography to link the contents of the newly added block with each block before it, such that any change to the contents of a previous block in the chain would invalidate the data in all blocks after it.

Premine

What is a premine?

A premine is a calculated initial allocation of the total capacity of a cryptocurrencies maximum supply.

The Motify premine is complete with 1,500,000 (3.5%) MDFY coins allocated to the development team. The premine will aid in the long-term solvency and development of Motify as a business.
