This is a terribly simplified (non)understanding of how congestion pricing would work or affect people with no data given. NYC spent millions creating cycle lanes (which are free to use) but these serve mostly white young males who live in Manhattan or close to Manhattan. The poor and people of color (who usually happen to be lower income disproportionately) have been pushed further and further away to transit deserts or just deplorable transit options because of gentrification. They can’t use a bicycle to go to work 10–15 miles away in Manhattan. Citi bikes dare not venture too far either so local transport also sucks. Do you propose people should pay to use cycle lanes too? And we pay to walk on the streets too? Where is the mention of reward system where people should be exempted from the congestion tax for using congestion reducing vehicles like motorcycles, scooters and ebikes etc?
It’s appalling how so many people have such poor understanding of what works for the larger masses- I am going to bet you are a white male seeing through your privileged lens with little understanding about how it is for the poor or people of color, esp in NYC where congestion pricing is being considered.
