Here’s what I mean—we’ve all seen Tweets like this one:

I want to be excited about the Kitty phone case too, but how can I be without seeing it first?

Without an image, there’s really no context for this tweet. This is because Instagram is a visually-driven platform where most descriptions only make sense once you have an image for reference.

In contrast to the tweet above, here’s another:

Go back and read it again. Can you imagine how confusing this tweet would be without an image?

Studies show that adding an image to your tweets dramatically increases engagement. The difference is so drastic, it’s clearly worth the 90 seconds it takes to manually tweet each Instagram image, but this adds up quickly day-in-day-out. What can we do to streamline this process?

Enter IFTTT, which is able to capture the image file from Instagram then Tweet it as a native photo.

Pretty smooth, right?

There are other parameters you can add as well, such as custom text, the timestamp, or even a hashtag or two.

To make this work for you, sign up for IFTTT (it’s free) and connect Instagram and Twitter. From there you can either set up a custom IFTTT recipe yourself, or just add the recipe I created.

Enjoy!

By the way, here’s that kitty phone case:
