That’s some of the sharpest analysis of the broader phenomenon I think I’ve seen. But you leave out the brainwashed-in hate and resentment that goes beyond status and personal “value” here. We’re all seeing people acting out their rage at “that woman.” Perhaps if you’d expanded your thesis to include people who value “traditional gender roles” you’d have been better covered. Or tried to explain the retirees whose status has been static and thus would seem to have less stake “movement,” but who have made it their habit to vote out of hate, not hope.
