Walk with friends and glöggi

The evening was deepening into darkness,
Last leaves of autumn hung around
On crimson branches,
Listlessly limp in the frigid wind.

We walked along a fluorescent path
Stared off into blurry horizons,
Sought comfort in the clarity of the present,
And reflected upon illumination,
Framed in the cold fire of ephemerality.

Helsinki shimmered in its own glow,
While we conversed,
Sipped glöggi,
Gazed uncertainly into the future
And walked home in good company.
