Alien Invasion Python Game

For my first portfolio project for Codecademy CS101 I wrote this with a ton of help from a book and online resources. The steps taken for this project taught me how powerful python code can be using object-oriented programming. I highly recommend seeking out crash course books while learning as it brings a new light on coding for the beginner and an even deeper understanding.

In a nutshell the game is controlled by multiple scripts with pre-defined classes being imported into the main file of the game with some classes inheriting Sprite from the pygame module. The dynamic settings change and is updated for every wave defeated checking on the level a player is on. Three bullets may be present on the screen at a time and being removed once a target is hit or it leaves the screen. The score is updated for every collision between the alien and bullet rectangles. A player life is lost for every collision between player and alien rectangles. I did not include all of the scripts here as it’s just too much. I will leave a link to the repository down below.

This was a lot of fun building! I hope someone out there new to coding will see this and use it to further their understanding. The book and CS101 course from Codecademy have helped me tremendously. The link to the repository is down below. Happy coding and the best of luck to those still learning.
