The Lower Consciousness Will Never Win

I’m an optimist ultimately. When I see ALL of the troubles in the world…all of the suffering, all of the pain, all of the fighting, I take solace in one thing…the lower consciousness will NEVER win.

The lower consciousness, if we look at the greater historical context, is zero for everything.

Feudal lords…lost.

The Colonial South…lost.

Oppressive Monarchies…lost.

Nazism…lost.

Communism…done (almost!).

Despots, Dictators, Tyrannical Rulers…lost, lost, lost.

The spiral dynamics model is one that has always made sense to me. It’s a complex, intricate system but ultimately what it speculates is that as an evolutionary species we are on an upwardly ascending spiral toward a higher consciousness. This progression takes place in the individual life (hopefully) but is also reflected in our society and our world as a whole.

All of this is not to say we can ignore, not deal with, or bypass our current predicaments and pains. Those troubles and conflicts and the working out of them is actually vital to our process and it’s imperative that we dig into them deeply in order to make our way to the next level in our consciousness progression.

But what it ultimately DOES point to is that racism, sexism - all of our cultural ills - will not prevail. They will either eat us away and be killed off in our present generation OR we can face our disease with courage and bravery and look to heal the root of our issues so that we can live more fully flourishing lives not only for ourselves but more importantly for the future lives of our children and our coming generations.

This progression WILL happen, we ARE going to get there as a human race. We must all courageously face our ills NOW, and work through our present challenges with the intention to move into a higher consciousness.

Because the higher consciousness is going to win every time.

Look at history, look at the record books, the lower consciousness is always going to lose and I for one don’t want to be on that squad.
