Gazeta Express: “Technical problems or revenge?” A Greek-Albanian crisis

Article

Within the framework of Ad and Pr lab of Panteion University we studied a few crises which broke out on the media on November 2018. More specifically, we studied the Greek-Albanian case which was manifested on November 13th.

Borders

During the evening hours of Sunday, the Greek Albanian borders of Kakavia and Crystallope were closed for Albanian citizens living in Greece. The Greek authorities reported that the computer system had been damaged and only the Albanian citizens with Greek identity could pass through. The traffic was restored after midnight but the same situation was repeated on Monday afternoon. The Greek authorities addressed that is due to the effort to repair the technical problem. However, we don’t know whether the chaotic situation at the borders is revenge for what happened in the Vouliarates village during the funeral of Constadine Katsipha. Fifty two Greek citizens were declared unwanted.

The crisis was publicized from the Albanian and Greek media. However, we focused on the Albanian newspaper Gazeta Express. It is a Kosovo news portal owned by Media Works. Nowadays, CEO is Berat Buzhala, Leonard Kerquki and editor in chief Shpend Lemoni. Leonard Kerquki has been working for newspaper Express since 2006. He also runs Gazzeta Express as editor in chief. He has also been a member of the Board of Professional Journalists o Kosovo. Leonard Kerquki is objective on his article and is not being affected by his political ideology.

In conclusion, when a crisis comes out it affects many countries and had severe consequences on society, economy, and politics even on culture.
