No your argument does not stand. You admitted you was ignorant of the background the original poster brought but you continued to believe there is impunity to being intolerant. You do not get to determine what offend others.

Next time, try to ask/inquire more in the future — stuff like what you wrote don’t go away and you may have to deal with an Asian employer, recruiter, headhunter, or investor in the future. Have empathy first and hope you learned from this. I been around long enough to see intolerant guys ran out the tech industry and see them working behind a geek squad counter..I’m not making this up..I seen it.
