The PowerBook 170 comparison felt so out of place in the presentation. Jobs was always focused on the future, and dwelling on the past is a distraction. From your quote by Phil, it seems that he understood this at one time.

Steve Jobs would have never put the Powerbook 170 into a presentation, if simply for the fact that it occurred after he had left.
