Happy New Wednesday!!!

A Cynic’s Rant On Bullshit NYE Resolutions…After A Night Of Drinking.

I was thinking of quirky things to say about New Year’s Resolutions on the way home from a party, and I couldn’t come up with a single thing except for the title of this piece. But one thing kept repeating over and over inside my head…how fucking pointless resolutions are. Much like religion, resolutions are nothing more than figments of our imagination to help us sleep at night while failing to wash away the sins that we’ll more than likely carry over with us till the day we die. Please refrain from acting like I just told you Santa isn’t real, or there’s no such thing as a president, because it’s true. Those are things we desperately want to believe exist…much like the new year bringing a “New You”.

I stopped making resolutions a long time ago when I realized that a lot of them are unobtainable. No it’s not giving up, or giving into defeat, just simply realizing the limitations of reality and the means we have available to get what we want. A lot of us wish for a new body, but not everybody has the means (albeit income) to achieve such a goal. We want to be better than we were before, and that is not easily accomplished. You’re either good or bad, polite or full of shit, and those who fit both bills are more than likely suspect.

Is this harsh? You fucking bet your sweet relish it is! Admit it, we as a nation are nothing more but “All Talkers”. We are a collective unit of people who are “All Talk, No Action”. Now there are some folks out there who are very determined to not be the person they were yesterday….oh I’m sorry…last year. More power to them….but we are not the same. A lot of people in this world need a push, or a sign, or help of some sort to get off their asses to achieve these unobtainable goals they set out for ourselves….and nine times out of ten they will fail.

I know my limitations, along with who I am as a person, and I know that not everything will be achievable because of who I am and what I stand for. You should to…and with that being said, drink up because we are all the same as we were a few hours before. If you truly want to change your situation and stay true to your “resolutions”, then heed this phrase that I’m pretty sure you can find on tumblr stated as an “ancient proverb”…

“Don’t talk about it, be about it.”
