Whilst I do get what you mean, I think that the default ought to be inclusive.

Which would be internationally recognised. Like the “#” from old landline phone days. Not to be reductive but a big part of why it evolved into a new age is because it was basically repurposed from then.

An apple symbolically isn’t synonymous with the intended sentiment. (The archaic american school idea isn’t even mentioned in Wikipedia.)

Iconography needs international historical symbolism. Which means it needs to be inclusive.
