This is Not My Republican Party
Steve Skeldon

You seem to imagine the “Party of Lincoln” or the “Party of Teddy Roosevelt”. It hasn’t been that in a long time. It isn’t even the “Party of Eisenhower.” Look to 1964, or especially 1968 and 1972 and Nixon’s Southern Strategy. Up until that time, Democrats (Dixiecats) dominated the southern states as being against the “Party of Lincoln”. Goldwater and Nixon changed that with the race baiting. If you think that changed at any time since then, look at where Reagan announced his candidacy for President for signals to the segregationists.

BTW, in my only foray into politics, I ran as a Libertarian, but certainly not as one of the Republicans that has besmerched the word since then.
