Something to keep in mind is that when you’re pitching to be featured in the Apple Podcasts store, one of the things that Apple looks for is marketing and promotion that includes Apple Podcasts buttons and mentions — be it on your website, in press releases, etc.
This acts as a way to keep Google Podcasts (and other platforms) at bay for the time being, as long as Apple Podcasts maintains its footing atop the coveted ‘Most Visited App.’ That said, it’s not a make-or-break requirement for aspiring shows, but it’s one of many things that’s considered in the process.
The strategy, however, could also be another section to this article. Google Podcasts could trade off considering shows in getting featured in-app for guaranteed promotion.
