Seth, what do you think the problem is with the floppy icon? For most of the people that have been on the web for a while, it is understood as an idiom for saving. Introducing a new icon would be akin to uprooting everything that is already in existence, and that would never work; it would essentially create 2 different standards (if it did at all work). We are also at a point where cloud storage is so prevalent, why do we even need to manually save (a la Google Drive, etc)?

On a related note, the open symbol is literally a folder opening. When was the last time you used a folder? Should we also replaced that? Open is also an action verb.

I think the vast majority of people will agree with Vinny that this is trying to solve a non-existent problem. Kids these days don’t know what a floppy disk is, but that doesn’t mean they don’t know what that icon means.
