It’s better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times. I wanted to travel to some place in India, where I could find the rich essence of Indian culture and scenic beauty of nature. I traveled to Rajasthan with a bunch of my college friends. The perfect season to visit Rajasthan is winter. We went to Rajasthan in mid January.
The first and foremost advice, I would give to students like me is, if you wish to travel somewhere in your college life (other than Goa), visit Rajasthan. Tickets for visiting the forts have a special student discount, given you need to carry an authentic id for the same. I decided to write my experience to give an insight to people about the do’s and don’ts while traveling to Rajasthan( wait for my next blogs). We went ahead to enjoy and explore the famous destinations in Rajasthan. Starting from Jaipur, heading towards Jaisalmer, then to Udaipur and lastly to Chittorgarh. The experience we had was amazing and full of adventures.

Jaipur — the Pink City

The places to visit in the pink city Jaipur, were especially forts. Forts like Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Jal Mahal, Amer Fort, Nahargarh Palace and Jaigarh fort. All of them with their own history and heritage.

Jaisalmer — the Golden City

This town is named as “the Golden City” because the yellow sand and the yellow sandstone used in every architecture of the city gives a yellowish-golden tinge to the city and its surrounding area. Approximately, 40 kms from the city, is the Sand dunes, located in the midst of Thar desert. There are many camps in the Sand dunes, where you can stay and enjoy the camel rides and Jeep safari. In the city, Gadisagar lake, Patwon ki haweli and The Golden City fort(Jaisalmer fort) are tourist spots.

Udaipur — City of Lakes

The city of lakes is known for its culture, history, scenic locations and especially its lakes. We visited to the City Palace, Jagdish Temple and Fateh Sagar lake.

Chittorgarh

Chittorgarh is home to the Chittor fort, the largest fort in India. One of the reasons the fort is famous is because Rani Padmini(Padmavati) and Jauhar performed by her.
