There’s No Such Thing as Too Busy
There’s No Such Thing as Too Busy
Often times, when we say we’re “too busy”, what we’re really saying is, “We have other priorities we’d rather focus our attention on.”
And there’s nothing wrong with that.
Maybe we don’t say that to people, because it’s easier to just say we’re busy and maybe we don’t want to hurt their feelings.
But the truth is, we’re all given 24 hours a day to do what we want with.
If we have time for Facebook, or to catch up on Breaking Bad, or stare at the wall or check our email 400 times a day, we have more than enough time to sparse out our time.
It’s like when you have kids or nieces or nephews. You’ll give each one the exact amount: a dollar. One will spend it right on candy, another will it away and yet the other might save it. Each was given the same amount. Yet, each chose to spend it differently.
The same goes for how we spend our 24 hours.
It’s okay to own that you’d rather spend your time doing something else than whatever someone is asking you to do.
There was a time, years ago, when I was working 3 or 4 jobs at the same time. But I still found the time to write and have a relationship.
Some of the most career-successful people I know did it while having kids and working several jobs. Candace Ganger writes during nap time while juggling two little kids, Elana Michelson runs her business and has 5 or 6 kids as a single mom, Damon Thompson has twins and still runs his own business. You can do it if you want to.
Want something done, give it to a “busy” person.
We’re all given exactly the same amount every day.
How are you going to use it today?
