Great succinct post Jan-Niklas. I tested both the hamburger and tab menu on both aquabumps.com (complex navigation, lots of category options that are typically crucial to the user pathway) and barneycools.com (shopping & content) and in both cases, tabs proved the winner. Without icons though (on Aquabumps), tabs worked best at the top of the screen. With icons (on Barney Cools), the bottom worked better
