In the warm, seemingly peaceful summer months of 2007, the city of Dnepropetrovsk, located in the heart of Ukraine, became the setting for a series of chilling and macabre events that would leave an indelible mark on the collective psyche of the nation. Two teenagers, Viktor Sayenko and Igor Suprunyuk, embarked on a horrifying killing spree, earning them the moniker “The Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs.” This case stands out not only because of the brutal nature of the crimes but also because of the killers’ motivations, which have been a subject of intense scrutiny and speculation.

The spree began in June 2007, a series of brutal murders that seemed to come from nowhere. The victims, 19 in total, were diverse: men, women, children, the elderly, people out for a walk, or simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. The randomness of these acts sent waves of panic throughout the community, as no one could predict where or who the killers would strike next.
