As an attorney I often have people asking me for free advice- especially in fields I don’t practice. If it really only takes a few minutes, I will answer, but it is so frustrating that these people often think its as simple as “what’s your favorite color?” to ask “hey what is the consumer protections of blah blah under some other state law? Can I SUE?” And then you’re a B for not really wanting to spend your evening talking it out with them after spending all day doing that work.

And most the time, the information is available on google any way!

I don’t ask my waiter friends to come over and serve me, don’t ask me for legal advice my firm would be charging $300/hr for.
