Public Speaking is more about you believing in yourself than in the speech
Current fear: Public speaking *check*
So, let’s get that sorted. Firstly I quite like speaking my mind when I’m asked my views on a topic or subject in a small group, where you have the chance to almost rectify the confused faces on what the hell you are talking about sometimes.
But public speaking in large crowds just feels like you don’t have the convenience of observing and unscrambling the confused faces looking at you.
I really want to spread my motivational / life lessons to the public, but I almost don’t want to just 'talk' at people, I want to help provide real 'value' to my audience, which in my opinion requires more one on one, dedicated time.
But enough complaining about me not having 'convenient' time to talk to each person in the audience and begin working with what I have.
It’s time to start preparing myself for my future opportunities to stand up in front of an audience and make an amazing first impression, delivering some real thought jerking topics, leaving the audience feeling that bit more confident about themselves and the challenges they will face in their future.
How the am I going to do that? *holds head in deeper thought* *finger click*
Keep on writing to explore topics in my head, think about the type of strong lessons / stories I want to share with people, come with those fire questions that will get people scraping deep in their mind for the answers and simply being me with complete confidence.
I can’t please everyone, but I’m unique as with everybody else so I know I have something useful to share.
So this brings me back to my point, public speaking is more about you believing in yourself than it is about believing in what you have to say.
We all have a unique story to tell, lessons lived and learnt and people who can relate to them.
The question is not "do I have something to say that is useful to others" but more about "do I believe in my own story enough to repeat it with energy that will light up my audience"
