BWAAHAAAAA!! Lordy lad, if I could tye dye a calf, you KNOW I’d do it!

We worked the replacement heifers that way also on the dairy. Beef cattle, usually if they are going for 4H. Otherwise, after weaning works for basic training. The Murray Grey is a gentle, docile breed, as you can see here:

This young heifer, 9 months old, a few days after her new, first time cow owner brought her home. When the young lady came to pick her up, we had put a halter on her for the first time the day before. She watched us work her, asked questions, took notes, and that was the result.

I can remember our partner in the dairy, a Portuguese man named Al, making horse hair halters out of tail hair. It was a fascinating, but tedious process that took months. The results were awesome.

Okay, I hear Roar bellowing for breakfast. That old bull has an internal clock that puts the atomic clock to shame.
