Who is America?

In 1926, Langston Hughes published one of his most notable poems, I, Too.

I, too, sing America.

I am the darker brother.

They send me to eat in the kitchen

When company comes,

But I laugh,

And eat well,

And grow strong.

I’ll be at the table

When company comes.

Nobody’ll dare

Say to me,

“Eat in the kitchen,”

They’ll see how beautiful I am

And be ashamed —

I, too, am America.

Ninety years later, we hear the voices clamoring. Who IS America? If you haven’t seen it, John Cena helps us out with this pretty easy question. We Are America.
