There are teachers out there, who’s main focus is getting high scores in testing or other areas. In my opinion, creating learning that students can use at school, at home, and in their community is as important as any other subject matter.

Absolutely! The students taking something away that they truly learn is so much more valuable than test scores and standards. I realize we do have to take these into account, but if we get our students generally interested in content, the rest will follow.
