Day 22: Snow Day
Wow, what a wonderful day.
Aside from the snow and slush and the part where our garden got crushed by all of that, it has been a good day.
We woke up this morning to a few inches of snow. No big deal compared to what I’m used to living in Maine. I stayed home not because I’m afraid of this weather, I’m more worried about every other nut out on the road that could potentially kill me or my newish car.
I completely psyched myself out this morning watching the storm news loop of afore mentioned crazy drivers.
So I stayed home, I played outside like a little kid. I built a snowman with my husband and child. I laughed a lot. I gave a lot of hugs and kisses.
We came inside and built a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. Well, we got it about half done. It’s an impressionist landscape. Super tricky. With those crazy pieces that fit, but the color is not quite right.
Wil cooked us all dinner. It was delicious. He wasn’t impressed with himself, but I don’t think he gave himself enough credit. His flavor profiles were on point.
We had ice cream and watched a movie per our tradition. We watched the Lion King tonight. I don’t remember this movie being so great 20 years ago. I mean, this is a good story! So many lessons and teachable moments. About being honest, and being strong, and standing up for the people you love. Plus, that Simone rodent is hilarious! Seriously.
This journal has been pretty serious these past few days. Today, I didn’t think about any of that. I am healthy and well. I am blessed. My family is blessed.
Thank you God for reminding me of that today through the simple moments.
