The Arthropod Pavillion is my response to the Project 2 Brief.
A Pavillion created almost entirely from 2 materials, timber and glass creating a very natural and contextually situated building.
As per brief requirements the building has a cafe, toilets, disabled access, activity area, and viewing platform which provides seating for the cafe.
I wanted to create an experiennce that changed based off the perspective of the viewer. A front view means you can see through the whole building, which gives it a very lightweight appearance in contrast to it’s huge size and thick structural beams.
A side view gives an elegantly robust perspective of a very thick timber structure. Showing off the flow of the curves and their intwining.
The building is created similar to an insect or plant, with it’s curved abdomen and the flowing curved roots that flow from it straight into the ground.
