Owen, I really genuinely don’t understand how someone with such an acute understanding of the situation (I agree pretty much entirely with your analysis) cannot advocate the obvious solution: Jeremy Corbyn needs to step down. I recognise that his supporters will be upset but people in your position can help to let them down gently. You have an opportunity to influence events that the rest of us can only dream of. For at least 2/3rds of the rebels this is about competence and ability, NOT ideology — an alternative left candidate can surely be found for Corbyn to endorse and for people like yourself in the media to promote as the carrier of his flame. The solution here is astoundingly obvious but it feels as though pride and loyalty are coming before good sense.
