Matt Nieto got his first hat trick in his NHL career, propelling the Colorado Avalanche into a 5–3 victory over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night. Nieto was only put into the lineup after too many others were injured, although after this performance, it is very likely he will be back on the ice in the lineup. The Avalanche are currently 3–1 at home this season, and they say it is all because of the fans.

Harrie Smolders is the overall winner of the 2017 Longines Global Champions Tour, a competition consisting of top-notch show jumping. Smolders rode his stallion Don VHP Z, coming out with an impressive 52.43 seconds for his latest winning ride. Spanning across three continents and 14 cities, this annual elite series brings together the top 30 riders in the FEI Jumping World Rankings.

Red Bulls score twice in 4 minutes, top Fire 4–0 to advance

The New York Red Bulls advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals after outing the Chicago Fire in a 4–0 game. Two goals were scored a mere four minutes apart in the first half by forwards Sacha Kljestan and Bradley Wright-Phillips. The Red Bulls will continue on to play against Toronto FC in the semifinals.
