Great stuff per usual, Bill Simmons.

Except that Jerry Colangelo’s history is the exact opposite of a blue blood. He’s a South Side Chicago kid who moved to Phoenix, created a basketball culture out of nothing with an expansion franchise, and was forced to sell his stake after overspending to deliver a championship (2001 Az Diamondbacks) to a city that never had one.

Say what you will about Bryan, but Jerry has earned everything he’s got. And Phoenix professional sports have taken a nosedive in his absence.
