#digirockstars lean workshop

Are you familiar with lean methodology? Yes or no it doesn´t matter as you should still read this as I will be talking about the awesome lean workshop we have here at Flux every Tuesday morning. The workshops are hosted by #digirockstars´s Steven Balliano and Oki Tåg who is also our super awesome Maximizer of Microsoft Flux. Both gentlemen have years of experience on startups and lean methodology, so they know what they are talking about. The workshops are completely free and are intended for early stage startups or people with ideas who are at the same time interested to learn about lean methods.

As the lean methodology has not yet gone totally mainstream, lets cover it shortly. The core of the lean startup is made of experimentation over complicated planning, customer feedback instead of intuition and iterative design over traditional development (HBR, 2013). In lean theory, finding early adopters is fundamental and you need to also understand their problem hierarchy. So, the point of lean is to go and find your end users first and then learn from there and do continuous testing.

Let´s go back to talk about the workshop. The schedule is very relaxed and the atmosphere is super chill which makes it a great learning environment! The workshop starts with coffee and chat about the ideas people have. After this it is time for the lean theory part which is followed by a session covering the question: Where to find early adopters from and how to recognize them? This part of the workshop also includes exercises for attendees to identify those people that might have the problem you want to solve. You will also get coaching and instructions on how to conduct B2C and B2B problem interviews. In the end, it is time to get out of the building and do some interviews! After you have done interviews you have the possibility to book 30-minute private meeting with Oki or Steven to go through your results and get valuable feedback and tips on your progress.

Personally, I would rank #digirockstars´s lean workshop as one of the most interesting and valuable session that I have ever attended. Understanding lean made me also think why I haven´t learned or heard about this at university? I would highly recommend this workshop for anyone that is keen to learn lean methods to boost your idea to something bigger! Like I mentioned earlier, workshops are free and the next one will be at 11th of July. Here is the link to #digirockstars webpage where you can find registration: http://www.digirockstars.com/

Cheers,

J-P
