You are correct that I’ve combined some of my favorite aspects of Material and iOS design principles. What, specifically, do you find troublesome about this particular execution? Or are you just stating that you’d prefer to see a product based holistically on one company’s rule set? I’m really curious about this hardened stance on design principles.
For sharing, I built a custom dialog to introduce a one-tap pathway to email notes to myself — something I do often through a lengthy number of steps in native share dialogs. Sure, we could offload this step to native OS dialogs, but this was a practice in user-flow optimization : )
If you don’t want to dictate, try Evernote. I hear they’re pretty good at QWERTY interaction ;) In all seriousness, I wanted to design sharply for a specific use case to reduce user’s cognitive overhead. I did, however, include a Keyboard button (bottom left) for QWERTY editing in the case your vocal pronunciation gets lost in translation.
