“Traditional providers” are not allowed to sell medications (Stark laws), whereas pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS, are allowed to sell medications and provide medical services. Unfortunately, physicians are bound by regulations which prevent them from being more innovative in care delivery. They don’t have the additional revenue stream from the sale of medications and medical products, that would support newer care delivery models. So don’t blame doctors.
