“the religious right does some of that as well, but the RR at least is focused on religious freedom and issues of personal morality.”

Riiiiiight… O_o…?

Do you honestly expect people to believe that? Are you just being silly? Have you had too much to drink already this morning?

The ‘Religious Right’ is expressly NOT interested in protecting religious liberty or freedom in this country, they are interested in religious privilege of their preferred sects ONLY. I do not see them out there defending the building of mosques or of satanic monuments at veteran’s cemeteries. I see them fighting tooth and claw to establish their religious views as “American” and “Patriotic” often pretending that the founding fathers were all Christians and dismissing all the effort the founders put into keeping religion at bey and from causing harm to the people.

They also do not care about personal morality, they care about imposing THEIR morality on others. “Cake!”, you say…?

“Exactly!” is my reply. No one is asking the cake makers to make special cakes that they do not offer to the general public, the cake makers and florists are being asked to make the very same products they normally offer. Your silly argument would be realistic if they were being asked to make bike tires, as that is outside of the goods and services they offer to the general public.

Also there are more atheists that identify with the conservative wing known as Libertarian, than any other party. Some atheist ARE Democrats and probably protested unconstitutional religious intrusion. I shake my head at both of those groups for their childish need for “belonging”.

“ Political parties should try to sell their agendas and programs on their merits without trying to finesse the argument by claiming divine sanction for their platforms.” — I wholeheartedly agree! ❤

“As to the Democratic Party being hostile to religion: Well, a mention of God was booed at Democratic Convention. But I don’t think they hate all religion. just Christianity in general and evangelical Christianity in particular. They seem to be fine with radical Islam, though.” … O_o…?

Really…?

Okay, The Democrips are only marginally different that the Rethuglicans in this regard and mostly reject and ostracize all freethinkers while showing great preference and favor for religious people, the only difference is that they show it for all faiths not just their own. They also think it gives them the right to demand the same from others. LOL!

I hear from the left FAR more than ANYONE on the right that “you have to respect all faiths”, or “you have to respect all religions”. No, I don’t.

They hold as much of a torch for the Christian faith (if not more so) than the Rethuglicans, in that the “Right’s” efforts are sure to hurt churches as much as any other worship setting (Temples, Mosques, Shrines…), dismantling constitutional protections of religious liberty and freedom (Johnson Amendment) (AFC 1.1) WILL hurt churches too, mark my word on it. The Republican Party will be the thorn, festering, slowly killing religious freedoms in the USA.

Also, you are an idiot. ❤ ;)
