I see Ron Howard as nothing but a good thing under the circumstances. What would this article propose as an alternative? Bring on a younger, hungrier auteur who wants to radically shift the tone of a movie that’s already shot 75% of its scenes? There’s a time to be risky, and it’s not when you’re performing surgery. Howard is a very talented director (I despise A Beautiful Mind, but the man has made many good films). If he’s a company man, at least he has the experience to bring to life the best possible version of the company’s vision, no?
