On November 14, the 2nd Edition of the Startup Community Awards will be hosted again to recognize and honour the contributions of the amazing community builders and inspirational volunteers that work tirelessly throughout the year to support and positively impact the Montreal startup ecosystem.

The celebration is co-headed by OSMO, which supports grassroots initiatives that aid community building, and Montreal NewTech, Montreal’s largest startup community committed to supporting its local techies and tech entrepreneurs through knowledge sharing, events, workshops, demo-nights, competitions, collaborative platforms, etc.

2017, the 1st year the awards ceremony was launched saw phenomenal engagement. “We were excited with the response we received. We received over 175+ nominations and over 3,000 votes. More than 200+ participants attended to celebrate and root for the instrumental individuals that relentlessly dedicate their time and energy to supporting the startup ecosystem and its member” said Ilias Benjelloun, President and Open Innovation Director at Montreal NewTech.

Participants and winners at 2017 Start-up Community Awards.

We’re inviting the public to help nominate these often unsung heroes. Go to Montreal Startup Community Awards 2018, ASAP to nominate your peers, in fact, you could do this while reading this article. The deadline to send us their names will be announced soon.

How does it work? A few days after the nomination deadline, you’ll receive an email with the final list of nominees and an invitation to the gala. The public voting opens right after that email and will stay open until a week before the Gala. YOU, (the public) will be determining the top 3 in each category and then over the next few days, we’ll be putting together a panel of judges made up of trusted and longtime members of the Montreal Startup Community who will narrow it down to the winner in each category.
