i’m just noting the political realities
Paul Blest

Well-stated. This goes to the flawed notion that incrementalism is a laudable goal. Critics of bold progressive ideas argue that incrementalism itself is smart political strategy, rather than simply a nominally positive outcome of fighting for real progressive change and falling short, yet achieving a compromise position that improves on the status quo. The difference being that the latter communicates the party’s long-term political goals and ideology, even if it’s something that is not immediately achievable, while the former is simply the politics of lowered expectations.
