Some Simple Ways of Kindness

1. Sharing meal:

I shared my meal with my friend as we were on lunch. Especially when I have drink, I share it with my friends. This makes better attachment with my friends. Many friends of mine do not share their meal and specially their drink but when I share mine, next time they share theirs with me. This is very important in team as it creates understanding among team.

2. Tip to waiter in canteen:

Today in mourning, when I went to canteen, I gave some tip rather than payment to waiter. This tip creates harmony. I tried it before and noticed that whenever I give tip, waiter’s behaves frank and he serves quickly. Also whenever I enter I canteen, he comes to me and asks for order. This tip makes him feel like I care about him and in return, he gives me favor of better service than other. This is also important in team as when you realize other that you care about them; they work passionately and show enthusiasm. It is also very important in job as whenever a new comer comes in job, people deal it harshly. When he shows he care about them, they share their experience and sorrow with him and help them in their work.

3. Calling people with their name:

I play badminton in my hostel. Many students play badminton at different time, so most of times, I play with new pair. I ask their name. Then whenever I see them I hostel, I used to call them by their name. Like recently I called a fellow with his name Raja Sahib. He felt like harmony and shook hand. Then from next time, whenever he meets me, he shakes hand and asks about my studies and I also ask about his studies. This is like a new friend, whom I don’t know but you know. Same thing is with job. When you call your team members with their names, they feel like you know them. Not in team but also in daily life, whenever you call someone new with his name, he feels cared and important. This help to bind the team in unity.

4. Appreciating team member in game:

While playing badminton, I paired with a new guy. He was new in badminton and did not know to play well. So he thought I will shout on him on playing wrong and discourage him. But I appreciated him in front of his friend and said you are playing very well. Keep it up. If you play like that, we will definitely win. And whenever he made a mistake, I gave him courage and told him how to have strike in such moment. He was very amazed by my behavior and not only he asked my name but also asked from where I am. Now when I play, he asks me to pair with him.

Appreciating is very important in team as this shows other like they are very important and what they do, matters. This makes them to work with full efforts and ultimately, outcome appears excellent.

5. Chitchat with hostel guard:

Hostel guards are bored by their duty as sitting alone on single chair and looking towards face of students. When I’m free, I used to sit with hostel guard and share some recent news. This make him feels better. One of guard feels so much important that he shares stories of his life. Many times, he shared story of other hostels, what students do and their activities and what he did not like in them. Many times, he shared his problems like he has to feed his family, pay bills and for this, he also works on daytime too. Sitting with them feels them like we care about them. Same is situation with team members. When you pass time with them, you know about them and their problems and what they are good at. So you can use their interests for team and can make a good progress.
