Five Random Acts of Kindness
So this is a really interesting activity for me, because no boasting but I think I try to do this thing on regular basis, like dealing politely with guards, waiters, peons or giving something extra to someone I see need or deserve it and sometimes try to help my friends in things they lack (they are mostly annoyed by me being on their back constantly but when they see the outcome, they come back grateful, which feels really nice)
So what I did for this activity of five random acts of kindness are following:
1- The waiter at F n K’s
My really close friend Sannan wanted to loot me and so to do so he took me to Forks n Knives on my birthday and we had a party (just we two). While we were eating what we ordered (Pizza of course, shit, now I’m craving it), so we were discussing about waiters and how people in U.S. don’t feel shame in being waiter because they are respected there and also it pays well especially from tips. It was a long discussion, but the soul of it was zayadti with waiters of Pakistan so when the check for the food came, it was somewhere around 1.5k and when he came back with the change I was thinking of leaving 50 for the waiter but my friend saw and pointed that ‘Bhai abhi hum zayadti ki baat kar rahay thay waiters k sath aur aap hamesha kehtay ho khud badlogay to baqi badlengay’. Yeah, he owned me, I was dumb-founded and I reacted quickly by adding another 100 to make it 10%. He then added that he was joking and I didn’t need to do that, but I wanted to. So I think that was nice. Sorry for the long description, although I’m making it longer by saying this. Yeah, I’m going to stop now.
2- Equal Respect for Guards/Peons:
On my way to my office (its a cubicle actually), my manager and executives swift past the guards/peons like they are nothing. So what if we are wearing a better suit and earn more money than them, they are humans and need to be respected like everyone else. I try my best to shake hand and ask about their health and something more etc. It seriously feels so good and the smile on their face is so vibrant it makes my sad face lit up.
3- Helping out a friend:
I believe that if you have some skill, you NEED to transfer it to others. Don’t sit like snake on your knowledge/skills, instead, transfer it to other people, it will only increase, never decrease. So I have been helping some friends learn a skill, I don’t want to disclose what it is but it is very important for their professional growth and I am hoping if I am successful in it, it’ll be worth the efforts.
4- Assisting the most important person in this world with their work:
Mother. The most important person in this world. Everyday I came back from internship and would just go into the room and lay down like I have been to a war and I’ve won it and now I don’t need to do anything. This day, I thought, so what if I worked a little hard today, my mother work multi tasks every day without a break. So I decided to help her out with the evening tea, cleaning of utensils and cleaning/organizing the kitchen for the night.
5- Failed Act of kindness:
Okay so this is kind of a funny one. I tried to do this act of kindness with a small kid pushing a trolley but it went south ways. I was going with a friend on bike and while passing through a park I saw a kid (pathan kid) trying to push a trolley filled with goods up the footpath but due to weight and steepness he couldn’t do it. Me and my friend stopped there, my friend was riding the bike, I hoped off the bike and went straight to the trolley, took control of the handles and with full force went up the slope, It seemed so heroic….
Sure looked heroic but it was real life, as I pushed it on the slop, the things in the rag (bori), rag which had its mouth opened, all slipped down on the ground. Still thinking it wasn’t that bad? So what, things fell down, pick them up, right? Only hurdle in picking them up was that those THINGS WERE LITERAL GLASS and as it fell down, it all shattered into pieces. GOD, I wanted to KILL MYSELF. But I controlled my embarrassment, consoled the guy a little but he was already okay saying it wasn’t worth much but I still paid some amount of money which he wouldn’t take but I insisted. So my intentions were right, my day was bad. :|
