In-Person Drop

I was really excited and confused for this activity at the same time. Ever since I wrote my elevator pitch I wanted to do this in real with a real Recruiter but I was confused as to where and when can I go to do this activity. I tried finding a field related company for this task but it was all in vain. After wasting a lot of time & achieving nothing I thought of doing it some other way. The only way I was able to perform this activity was to apply for a job as a teacher in a small yet considerable academy.

So I had some contacts over at Wisdom Academy plus it was close to my home. I modified my elevator pitch and practiced it numerous times. I had it all figured out, Resume, Cover Letter and the Elevator pitch were all revised and ready to go! I found out the timings of the Director of the academy, I wanted to see him in spare time when he was out of the academy or in the lounge etc. To my luck, he regularly went for a walk in the near park and it was the perfect place for me to do what I had to do.

I went there on time, saw him going into the park and kept an eye on him when suddenly out of nowhere a friend popped out and hugged me. I was taken aback but I greeted him, he asked me what I was doing there & I didn’t want to share what I was doing so I made excuse in reply of which he said “Bhai Poondi karnay aye ho?” And I was looking at him and saying in my mind “Bhai ab apko kya bataun”. Anyways, he excused me after 10–13 minutes and I finally got a chance to approach the Director Mr. Shehzad Aslam, he knew me from days back when I was his student which gave me an advantage, he listened to what I had to say which I think I did right except my speaking speed was equivalent to McLaren F1.

It ended in a really positive way, he ended up asking what I was really doing there and he said its okay and that I did well and if I did the same with some other recruiter, I’ll have a chance of being successful. I learned many positive things from this experience, most special one being that if you get out of your comfort zone, there is no other competition/hurdle standing in your way.
