Blotting Paper Test — How to Determine Your Skin Type?
The blotting paper test is a quick and fun way to discover your skin type! Here’s how you can do it:
What You Need?
- Blotting paper or a piece of tissue paper
- Clean hands
What to do?
Step 1: Wash Your Face
Start with a clean slate. Use a mild cleanser to remove dirt, makeup, and excess oils. Pat dry with a soft towel — your skin deserves it!
Step 2: Wait for One Hour
Give your skin a breather for about an hour after cleansing. Let it return to its natural, unaltered state.
Step 3: Prepare the Blotting Paper
Cut the blotting paper into small squares or use tissue paper. You’ll need one for each area you want to test.
Different Areas to Test
Oily Areas
Gently press a piece of blotting paper on your forehead, nose, and chin, aka the T-zone. Hold it there for a few seconds, then remove it.
Dry Areas
Now, press another piece of blotting paper on your cheeks or any spots prone to dryness. Hold it there for a few seconds, and then remove it.
The Results?
Oily Skin
If the blotting paper from your T-zone appears oily or has visible grease spots, you likely have oily skin.
Dry Skin
If the blotting paper from your cheeks or other areas shows little to no oil and your skin feels tight or flaky, you likely have dry skin. Try hydrating skin products to plump your skin.
Combination Skin
If the blotting paper from your T-zone is oily, while the paper from your cheeks or other areas is relatively dry, you may have combination skin.
PS: Keep in mind that this is a general test and may not provide an exact diagnosis of your skin type. If you have any doubts or specific skin concerns, don’t hesitate to contact a dermatologist or skincare pro for personalized advice. Your skin journey awaits!
