HTML/CSS: Hard To Master La Cos So Sophisticated
This week I was taught HTML/CSS. Basically the foundation of web-design. However, it was not new to me as I was self-taught on this concept. But, there was one new framework that I learnt that I could save time. This thing called Bootstrap.
Some back story: I was doing a mini project on doing my resume on HTML/CSS from scratch. So, this was my final product:

However, it was kinda hell irritating. I have to trial and error and to see whether what block fits and why certain stuff acted in weird ways. Then came the invention of Bootstrap. Thanks for the invention! Saved so much time and effort! However, it was the tip of the iceberg.
There was this simple assignment: Create your own portfolio webpage. Simple enough, I thought. 1 hour of researching and getting inspired from some portfolios online, I tried my 1st draft.
“Looks meh.”
Okay, next draft.
“Why does this not fit in like what I have planned?”
Alright, research further and insert some cool CSS features.
“Wait what? My code looks fine but it’s not working!”
Going back and forth about on what to do with my portfolio, I think to myself,
“What would I want my first impression to be if my future employees were to see my portfolio…”.
Thus, I found who I am. I think. I did not know creating a portfolio about myself was this hard. Well, the most complex coding problem to solve is ourselves, I guess…
This week was rather stressful in terms of why does my code look so weird on the actual webpage! That’s programming I guess. By trial and error. Also, learnt about the how to get the webpages up through Git and GitHub too. Cool! Hope to learn how to improve my portfolio to make it much cooler using JS!

One thing that I’ve learnt :
Write/draw out what you think.
I feel like this is an important skills that I have adapted to. If you are classmates of me, you’ll see me with a small whiteboard. With that small whiteboard, I wrote everything down, from solving code problems to drawing my Wireframe. It helps you visualise the thought process that you’re going through and look back on things you wrote. I realise by typing or dragging the cursor in your laptop, it does not have the same effect as writing. There are multiple studies that shows by writing down when you are problem solving, feeling angry or even feeling happy, you get a sense of creative expression I might call it. Thus, I recommend to pen down anything that you have troubles with. Cos it worked for me, a lot.
