The Activity that increases chance to get a job

Going the #Extramile through elevator pitch and in person drop.

Getting a job is a critical situation in many countries due to unemployment, especially in developing and under developing countries. Hundred and thousands of applicants apply for a single post. Pakistan is also a developing country and it is very hard to get a job there especially for fresh Graduates. There is also a problem of recommendation and bribery in many Govt organizations. A large number of private companies operating in Pakistan and their HR department work hard to select the applicant, who fits for the organization.
The problem is that how we can get a job in our dream company in Pakistan? We have to do something different than others that impress recruiters. There is a tip that increases the chance of getting a job and it is practically proved. If we follow it, we can impress the recruiters.

So the tip called as going the #extramile through elevator pitch and dropping your resume and cover letter in person. An elevator pitch is a summary about yourself, your education, academic experience, work experience, passion for the company etc. That you have to speak in 60 seconds during the discussion with the HR person in a natural way. The other thing is dropping resume and cover letter in person. It shows your passion for the company. Here I want to share my experience regarding this activity that will definitely help you to practice it.
I had recently completed my bachelor degree of BBA in HRM and I am very passionate to join the HR department of Pepsi. That’s why I applied for an internship at Pepsi because I have no work experience. First of all I have done research about the company, HR department, and HR persons. Prepared my Resume and cover letter. I also work hard to find the name of the recruiter. To find the name of the recruiter I went to the office, ask from gatekeepers, office boy, the receptionist and the security guards and finally I got the name of HR recruiter. After preparing documents I started practicing elevator pitch. I face much difficulty in practicing elevator pitch, but I worked hard and practice in front of a mirror and with a friend. When I went to the office to meet the recruiter my heart was beating very fast and I was very nervous because it’s my first experience at any company. I tried to be calm and reach out to the recruiter in his office. Luckily he was sitting alone. I started talking to him, but truly says I stuck many times during the conversation. I keep smiling on face and tried to stay confidential. He asked few questions about my education. The recruiter has really appreciated my effort and told me that Submit your documents and best of luck.
I have got lots of experience from this activity and realize that I need to improve my communication, confidence and more practice of the elevator pitch. For the next time I will improve myself and my weaknesses by practicing more and more. Always says
“Practice makes a man perfect”.
