In Person Drop:Going Through Extramile

No one likes to move beyond his or her comfort zone, but that’s really where the magic happens. It’s where you can grow, learn, and develop in a way that expands your horizon beyond your wildest dream.
“Nobody ever died of discomfort, yet living in the name of comfort has killed more ideas, more opportunities, more actions, and more growth than everything else combined. Comfort kills!” — T. Harv Eker
As we have passed the 7 weeks in the Amal fellowship and we are moving toward the end of this wonderful journey that we will remember forever. We are trying to come out of our comfort zone and going through extramile by doing different projects and activities that we have never experienced in the past life. So we have taught about the meaning and importance of in-person drop. A project was assigned to us in online that we have to drop our CV and Cover letter to any HR of the company. It was a unique challenge to come out of the comfort zone. It was little bit difficult but I was motivated after reading this quote,
“Great things always lie outside the comfort zone”
We have to complete this activity in just 5 days and at first, we were just blind, what to do next. First of all, I updated my Resume and Cover letter to remove any kind of errors and mistakes. I added some more things to resume like linkedIn profile link. Then I decided to contact with any HR for drop in. It was challenge for me to find any HR and contact with him. I tried to search about the companies asking for candidates to fill the vacant seats but I could not find in Faisalabad.
Then I came to know about the HR, working in the Ayub Agriculture Research Institute. I contact with him via email by following the Amal instructions to know about his timing in the office. After few hours, he responded and told about his availability in the Office. I also practiced my elevator pitch by recording it and then listening it to improve it further. With this method, I have made significant difference in delivering my elevator pitch. I went to AARI next day and greeted warmly with HR and delivered my elevator pitch confidently. Then after 3–4 minute discussion, I handed over my resume and Cover letter to him and come back hostel.
It was an amazing experience for me. It was bit nervous at first but after completing this task,I felt very confident. I came out of my comfort zone and went through some extramile.
“Do one thing every day that scares you.” — Eleanor Roosevelt
