So, what do you think how important it is to be yourself in an interview? According to the HR professional of Shirkat Gaah, an NGO that works for women’s rights and women empowerment, it is very much important for the candidate to be honest and be real with what he/she is. If you have added something in your resume that doesn’t align with your inner self or probably you got succeeded in impressing the interviewer during an interview with the things or with skills you do not actually possess, it will be good for you in the short run, but what’s its long-term impact? Did you ever think of this? According to her, when that candidate starts coming to job after his/her selection, he/she probably can’t handle the duties and responsibilities assigned to him/her and the things expected from him/her because he/she never had those skills or experiences of which he/she had lied during the interview.

As a result, it leaves a very bad long-term impact on the organization and that employee starts getting depressed. The main takeaway here is that try to be yourself and don’t fake such things that you are not good at. It will be you who is going to take benefit for being honest and real in the long run.

Apart from this, Do you have any idea how the interviewer identify if a candidate is being real or not during the interview? Any guesses?

According to the HR professional of Shirkat Gah, if a candidate is trying to pretend or faking something that he actually is not, he will most probably be identified by his non-verbal gestures or we can say, body language. What happens usually is, when you are not being honest or authentic, you probably lose eye contact or your facial expressions starts getting changed. Even, you start to move your leg or start touching your face again and again. These are some usual body languages that help the interviewer in knowing about the real you. So, the main takeaway here is either you are being real or being fake, the interviewer more or less will identify what’s actually happening or what are you trying to do. How do you identify if a candidate is being real or not during the interview.

“Be what you are. This is the first step towards becoming better than you are”. Julius Charles Hare.

Now, what the interviewer usually prefers to see and want the most to be in candidate? HR professional right away said, positive mindset and behavior is first and foremost important things that an interviewer looks for, especially an HR person. You are going to be a part of an organization that demands a lot of interactions and communications. You are the one who will going to be a part of an organization, so, if you have a positive attitude and a good behavior with your colleagues and other staff, it will help you adapt into every kind of environment. The interviewer usually asks you situational or behavioral questions to judge your positive mindset and behavior. The main takeaway here is having a positive mindset and your past behavior with others matter a lot. Always try to avoid negativity.
